The Dream That Refused to Go Away

The Dream That Refused to Go Away

A teacher's dream, a grocery store, and God's perfect timing.

When I was a little girl and someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I always said the same thing: I wanted to teach.

I loved going to school. I loved perfecting homework assignments, sometimes working on them for hours after school. Growing up in the country meant long bus rides home, and those rides became my time to decompress and recharge. By the time I got home, I was ready to learn again.

As I got older, I realized that teaching truly was my dream. The thought of pouring into others through education stirred something in me. I earned my bachelor’s degree in education, continued on to receive my master’s, and eventually got my first teaching job.

But it wasn’t what I had hoped and dreamed it would be.

There was red tape everywhere. Curriculum requirements and standards made it difficult to teach creatively, and I quickly realized the classroom did not look the way I had imagined it would.

So, I pivoted.

I entered the world of healthcare through massage therapy, and something inside me came alive again. I enjoyed massage school so much that I remember telling one of my instructors, “Someday, you’re going to be a guest speaker at my massage school.”

My passion for teaching had been reignited, only this time, it was through massage therapy.

For years, as I massaged clients day in and day out, I would dream about teaching. My husband, Dr. Mosier, had started his chiropractic clinic, and I knew I needed to support him in his dream. But I would always tell him, “One day, we are going to have a massage school, and I want it to be in the same building as your office.”

He never tells me no, but at the time, it simply didn’t make sense. The office building we were in was already full. There was no way we could fit anything more inside those four walls.

Several years passed.

Then one day, a thought came to me that I couldn’t ignore.

What if we found a building big enough for both of us? What if we could work alongside each other while both pursuing the dreams God had placed in our hearts?

And that is how we ended up buying a grocery store.

Had anyone told me when I was younger that this would be part of my story, I probably would have laughed and said, “Yeah, whatever.”

Our families never told us to our faces that we were crazy, but I can only imagine they were nervous for us. Soon, “Coming Soon” banners went up, construction took over, and here we are.

Our doors on Market Street may have closed, but these new doors are open.

And truly, they have been open for a while.

God has provided in so many ways that it is evident this project was His plan, His dream, and His purpose for this community here in Washington County. We couldn’t ignore the nudge.

My greatest prayer for anyone who walks through these doors is that they never give up, that they listen to God, and that they pursue the dream He has placed inside of them.

Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.

We look forward to serving you all soon.
